Creative Writing Tips For Beginners

Now that your website is set up, it’s time to think about writing great content. I’ve got some great creative writing tips for beginners that will help you write great content quickly. Think you’ve got nothing to say? Writing great content for your website doesn’t have to be a hassle. In fact, it can be a lot of fun! Personally, I love to write content. Tip #1: Read About Your Niche

You chose your niche based on research, right? That means that you’ve looked at a lot of websites to get that information. When I’m looking for content, I get inspiration from a lot of unlikely places–not necessarily the Internet. A lot of my content comes from questions I’ve heard asked or in conversations I’ve had with people. These conversations give me a light bulb moment where I think, “hey, I can write an article about that!”

Tip #2: Keep a List

Create a spreadsheet in Google Docs for all your article ideas. Each time you think of a topic to write about, add it to the list. I maintain a list on my laptop of all the topics I think may make great articles. I have it in Google Docs. That way, if I’m away from my laptop, I can access the list via my smartphone. That way, I am never searching for something to write about. This can really come in handy if you are having a simple conversation with someone that prompts an idea.

Tip #3: Keyword Research

Now that you have a handy list of topics, you should have no problem going to your list, grabbing a topic and doing a bit of keyword research. Keyword research is VERY IMPORTANT! It helps you to know instantly what your audience is looking for.

Tip #4: Research

Research is a crucial part of any content that you write. Your content should be very well researched to include as much information on the topic as possible. Depending on what you are writing about, you should research things like pros and cons, other similar products, if applicable.

Tip #5: Write For Your Audience

Let’s briefly talk a little about your niche research? Part of that research should have included information on your audience. If it didn’t, now would be a good time to think about who your audience is and make a list. Here are a few things to think about regarding your audience:

  • Age Group
  • Gender
  • Lifestyle
  • Yearly income
  • Interests/hobbies
  • Where do they spend their time?
  • Where do they shop?
  • Where do they hang out on the Internet? Forums, blogs, social media
  • Other interests outside of your niche

You have to know who you are writing for in order for your work to be of benefit to anyone. That’s how you connect what you are writing about to people who have a need/want to know.

Tip #6: Structuring Your Content

When it comes to writing your content, you should begin always with your audience in mind. Pick a title that will include your keyword. This will help your article in Google rankings. The title should be descriptive and not too long.

The first paragraph should be a introduction to the topic–what the article is about. Also included in this paragraph should be a description of the problem you are addressing. Include any keyword within the first sentence, if possible. If not, at least include it within the first paragraph.

Write your article in your own words as if you are having a conversation with someone. DO NOT PLAGERIZE!

The rest of the article should be set up in an outline before you even start typing. Make a list of topics you want to include in your article. Make them headings and set them up so that they help you stay on topic and the article flow well. If you are addressing a particular problem, outline different things about the problem and then address how to fix the problem within each heading.

The final paragraph should be a conclusion about all the information covered in the article. You can also ask for feedback by asking people to leave a comment or question. You want to encourage engagement and discussion. This will also help your site and articles rank.
