I hope you are all still hanging in there with me regarding podcasts. This time, we are going to work on how to publish a podcast. So far, we’ve looked at what is a podcast, finding people to interview, sorting out hardware and software you need, downloading Audacity, creating a test recording, editing a recording and now, finally, PUBLISHING!
The most logical choice in publishing are in two places: your site and Youtube! Depending on how your site is set up you can go a few different ways here. If you are only planning on doing podcasts on occasion you can add or embed them into a page or post as an added feature to your page’s particular topic. If you plan to make a lot of podcasts then it might be best to create a menu item called Podcasts and list them there or even in a sidebar. Again, depending on how your site is set up.
Before You Publish a Podcast
So let’s make sure we have all the pieces we need to publish. So far, you’ve:
- Made sure you have the right hardware.
- Downloaded the necessary software–Audacity
- Created a test recording and familiarized yourself with the software
- Arranged and interviewed someone for your podcast
- Edited the interview and listened to it from start to finish
Ok, so with all that in mind, now it’s time to get ready to publish. I will also presume that you’ve already set up your Youtube channel. If not, we’ll talk about that too.
How Do I Create a Youtube Channel?
Creating a Youtube channel is really quite easy. First, if you don’t already have one, set up a gmail account. Go to Youtube. Click in the upper right hand corner and sign in. Your channel will be created right away.
Next, you’ll need to upload the video. To do that, click on the Upload button at the top right side of the screen.
Then you select the file from your computer. You also have options to set if you want the video to be public or private.
And that’s it! Congratulations! You made it! Not too complicated, huh? I hope you’ve enjoyed this series of posts on podcasts. You now know how to publish a podcast!
