Instant Eyedropper is a very cool tool for anyone who wants to change colors or experiment with different colors on their website. I’m sure you’ve seen websites with colors you’d love to have on your own website. Maybe you’ve seen a color that you’d love to match up but didn’t know how to get the color code for that color. With Instant Eyedropper all you have to do is click on the color you like on any web page and you will get the HTML code for that color.
How Does Instant Eyedropper Work?
Once you install Instant Eyedropper, simply double-click on the icon to open it. I use it frequently so I have the icon in my taskbar so I never have to look for it.
- Using your left mouse button, click on the Instant Eyedropper and hold. You should see the eyedropper display different colored pixels and give you an HTML code for your color. This color will have a hashtag (pound symbol) in front of the code. You can then write down the code or copy to your clipboard.
- To copy the code to your clipboard, hold down the left mouse button, select the color you want and with your other hand, hit the Print Screen button on your keyboard. This will copy the code to your clipboard.
- To paste, use CNTL-V. It’s not as difficult as it sounds!
Change Website Background Color
You can use Instant Eyedropper to also change the background color of your website using the technique outlined above. All you have to do is find the color that you love on any website. Click on the Instant Eyedropper tool. Hold down the left mouse button and move your mouse over the color that you want.
Use Instant Eyedropper in Photoshop
This code can be also be used in the Color Picker in Photoshop. Find the color you want with Instant Eyedropper, write down or copy the code to the clipboard, and paste into your Photoshop Color Picker.

Hex, Delphi Hex and VB Hex: hexidecimal; uses decimal notation to represent colors.
RGB: Red, green, blue; RGB colors are various combinations of red, green and blue.
HSB: Hue, saturation and brightness
The most common is HTML. You can learn more about colors by clicking here.
